Did Yeshua Eat The Passover

Did Yeshua Eat the Passover Seder?

Pesach same'ach" (פסח שמח) Happy Passover!  This month we will celebrate Passover (Pesach), the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Chag HaMazot) and the Feast of Firstfruits (Chag ha-Bikkurim).  What an incredible time of year to honor these 3 memorable, multi-layered Feasts!  The best part is to be participating in the Biblical Feasts and not the man-made traditions.  It feels so right.

But, I must admit there seems to be some confusion in the camp surrounding the night beginning of Pesach.  Did Yeshua eat the Passover Seder or was it a wonderful last meal together with His disciples in which they were getting ready for Preparation Day?  Many teach and believe it was the Passover Seder...because of some verses in Matthew, Mark and Luke about it being Passover....(the season?).  However, if one clears one's mind...how would it make sense that Yeshua was eating the Passover Seder, when He is the PASSOVER LAMB and had not yet been killed!  Yeshua was killed at twilight on the 14th of Nisan, at the same time they were slaughtering the lambs in the Temple Courts!  And according to Exodus 12 and Leviticus 23 (look it up my friends) the Passover is not eaten until the evening (or beginning of the 15th of Nisan BIBLICAL CALENDAR).  So, how could Yeshua be celebrating a Feast that had not yet happened? He is the WORD!  He knows the WORD. He would not attempt to disobey, change or disregard His Laws!  His Torah!

I believe He was NOT eating the Passover Meal, He was eating a wonderful farewell meal with His disciples, explaining about what was to happen next. He was helping His dear disciples to PREPARE for what was coming, both the Passover, and this particular Passover that would change the face of mankind eternally! If we look at calendars in that year, it would most likely He ate His last meal on Tuesday evening (the beginning of Nisan 14 - Preparation of the Passover Lamb day).  Went to the garden on Mt. Olives to pray, got arrested, and presented to the High Priests and Pilate during the early morning hours.  He was beaten, spit upon and scourged for our healing.  He went to the cross, was crucified all during Wednesday.... by nightfall he had died (for our sins!)....at "twilight" when they were sacrificing the Passover lambs (this was the end of the 14th of Nisan).  They laid Him in a tomb donated by Joseph of Arimathea.  This was now Wednesday evening the start of Nisan 15, which is called Passover/1st Day of Unleavened Bread.  It is a "Sabbath" day, meaning there could be no customary work.

Look at Lev. 23:4-7 "‘These are the feasts of the L-rd, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times.  On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the L-rd’s Passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the L-rd; seven days you must eat unleavened bread.  On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. But you shall offer an offering made by fire to the L-rd for seven days. The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.’”

So, on our calendar Yeshua was put in the tomb, Wednesday night.  Right when all the Jews and believers in Messiah were eating the required and traditional Seder Meal. They ate the roasted lamb, bitter herbs and UNLEAVENED BREAD.

How could Yeshua been eating at this Feast, when He was dead and buried?

The book of John clearly states, 13:1-2 "Now before the before the Feast of Passover, when Yeshua knew His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who in the world, He loved the to the end." and He eats a meal with them...."And supper being ended...".

So, why does Matthew, Mark and Luke appear to be saying He was eating the Passover meal?  Need to look at translations and the Jewish culture.  Need to look at the WORD.  It clearly says Yeshua IS the Passover Lamb.  He was slaughtered on Nisan 14.  Buried at the beginning of Nisan 15 when the Passover Seder was being prepared and eaten.

We can't change HaShem's perfect Word.  But, apparently we are very limited in our ways of interpretation, explanation and teaching of His perfect Word.  We must go to the HEART of the WORD.  We know HaShem sent His Son to die for us that we have eternal life!  His perfect blood was taken to the perfect Temple in Heaven....and now we have a "way" to the Father....for ever and ever!  Just like HaShem told us to celebrate His Feasts forever!  And teach them to our children.  So, we can remember His Perfect Plan!  AMEN!

Yeshua's life and death is the completion of hundreds of Scripture prophecies!  He came for the Jews as Jew, and the Lost Tribes and everyone else who may be lost !  HaShem has a PATTERN for it all....and we can see it in the FEASTS!!! Glory to HIM!!!!!

Praise You Adonai, for giving us Your Son Yeshua, so that we may live...FOREVER!

Shalom, shalom
